Although failure is something that we will all inevitably experience throughout our lives, no one enjoys failing. It does not, however, need to be viewed as a bad thing. With the right attitude, every failure can instead be seen as an asset and opportunity for growth – a chance to build resilience.

Failures can be allowed to inhibit our personal growth and development, or they can be confronted with grace and appreciation. Many people react to failure by simply giving up. Psychologists describe resilience as the ability to react positively to adversity, threats, or sources of stress.

As Winston Churchill famously said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Allow your failures to be opportunities for growth and development. Cultivate your resilience by analyzing your failures and learning from them, then continuing on your path towards greatness.

When people find success, people tend to focus on the fruits of success rather than the failure, struggle, and challenges they faced to get to where they are. On the outside looking in, it’s easy to see the silver lining of success without imaging the heavy rain clouds that came with it.

When we build our own success, it’s easy to look back on the journey and see how far we’ve come. But when you do achieve success and look back on your journey, you will absolutely see the path littered with mistakes, failures, obstacles, and setbacks.

That is the reality. You cannot be successful or grow as a person without meeting resistance. In the same way, people build resilience in the face of adversity, people achieve personal growth through the power of failure.

Failure shows you who are you when the chips are down. It shows you how strong you are to get back up and keep going. It’s an important part of life and the biggest thing about failure? You won’t fail if you don’t put yourself out there.

This video discusses strategies for dealing with failure and using it as a tool to maximize your growith potential.
